TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Presidential Chief of Staff Office Moeldoko challenged the people that often stir the issue of foreign workers and accuse it as a systematic incursion. He requested the public figures who do that should stop since it misleads the public.
“We’ve equipped ourselves with data. Let’s compare them,” said Moeldoko in a challenging tone today, April 24.
According to the retired Army General, the concern toward foreign workers is always highlighted every time an election arrives, such as the upcoming 2019 general and presidential election. He says that this issue is seen as an attractive political commodity.

“We have studied it from many angles. Therefore, we need to clarify this with a concrete explanation that is true to the facts in the field,” said Moeldoko.
Furthermore, Moeldoko gave an example of today’s concern of foreign workers’ incursion. He also noticed that there is an attempt to persuade people’s attitude in thinking that it is mostly participated by Chinese foreign workers.
“I guess this is unwise. Do not use issues of SARA (ethnicity, religion, and race) as an instrument to mobilize public’s opinion especially if it’s used for certain practical reasons,” said Moeldoko.
