New Yogyakarta International Airport to Complete in January 2019

TEMPO.CO, Semarang - State airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) said the construction of the New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) is targeted to start in June and finish in January 2019.
“The initial construction is to build the air set and then the land set. Both constructions are done simultaneously," said AP I president director Faik Fahmi in the press release on Thursday, April 5.
The land acquisition process has been completed and the AP I is doing the land deployment.
The air set is targeted to be completed along with the construction in January 2019. He hopes the New Yogyakarta International Airport can be operational in April 2019.
Faik also mentioned that a lot of airlines have applied for the operating licenses. According to him, his office will make a selection first.
“In addition, we are very open with those who have international routes such as from Australia, Japan, South Korea and China," he said.
According to Faik, the New Yogyakarta International Airport is expected to have a positive impact on economic, tourism and logistics sectors in Special Region of Yogyakarta and some areas in Central Java.
