TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As it turns out, the odd-even number plate policy that the government implemented for personal vehicles using the Jakarta – Cikampek Toll Road had boosted the sales of used cars.
According to Senior Manager of the second-hand cars exchange at WTC Mangga Dua Herjanto Kosasih, that specific government’s policy improved the used car market by five percent.

“It would be a blessing to reach 5 percent. That policy would be a miracle, us traders would gladly accept that fact,” said Herijanto on Monday, April 2.
Furthermore, Herijanto explained that people who own cars with an even tag most likely need another car to serve their needs during the days when the odd-number plate policy is in effect. This is the reason why he argues that consumers choose to purchase used or second-hand cars to fill in that spot.
According to Herijanto, last month alone, the used-car company recorded car sales up to 2,700 units. However, throughout this year his company has set a goal to sell 35,000 cars, which are 2,000 units lower than last year’s sales goal of 37,000 cars considering that 2018 is a political year.
