TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The sixth Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) denied the allegations that link him to the electronic ID (e-KTP) mega corruption case. He maintains that the stories of his involvement are all fabricated.
“Suddenly there was a dialogue between a lawyer and witnesses; Firman Wijaya and Mirwan Amir, that are out of context. I think it is a set-up, a fabrication,” said SBY at the Democratic Party headquarter on Tuesday, February 6.

The allegation of SBY involvement in the case was first mentioned in Setya Novanto’s trial session. Setya’s lawyer, Firman Wijaya, stated that the e-KTP project was controlled by the party that won the 2009 elections, which was the Democratic Party together with Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who was president at the time.
Democratic Party politician, Mirwan Amir, who came as a witness also mentioned SBY, suggesting that he was involved in the e-KTP graft.
SBY also claims that Firman Wijaya’s statement in front of journalists was a set-up. “It’s as if it was, directly and indirectly, devised that way,” SBY explained. The former President plans to report Firman to the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) for defaming him.
