TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Constitutional and Electoral Reform Center (Correct) advisor Hadar Nafis Gumay asks the General Elections Commission (KPU) to involve young voters in the general elections activities.
He suggests that KPU must be open to public participation, “one of them is the involvement of the young generation,” said Hadar in Jakarta on Friday, January 19.

Besides increasing the number of young voters, the 2012-2017 KPU Commissioner also aimed at educating the young generation anything about general elections. “Thay can be involved in the regulation-making, monitoring, or even the dissemination process.”
According to Hadar, candidates for the general election will greatly affect the participation level of the young generation. “If they see a favorite candidate then the participation will be huge,” he said.
KPU must attempt to get young people more attached to an election. One alternative is to approach them through the most common element mostly used by today’s younger generation, which is through social media.
