Ahok Sue for Divorce, District Court to Assign Panel of Judges

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The North Jakarta District Court will assign the panel of judges on a divorce filed by former Jakarta governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok, against his wife Veronica Tan.
"The decision of the panel of judges will soon be conducted by the Head of the North Jakarta District Court," said North Jakarta Public Relation Officer Jootje Sampaleng at his office on Monday, January 8, 2018.

Jootje said that after assigned, the panel of judges will examine the file of the case first. After that, he said, the day of the trial will be determined. "Usually the trial begins a week after the panel of judges is assigned," he said.
Jootje said, after the first trial took place, the judge will provide mediation process for Ahok and Veronica. In the mediation process, a certified mediator will accompany both. The mediator, said Jootje, could come from outside or inside the court.

Jootje added, the mediation process will be determined by the mediator. "If possible, they might be getting back together, he (mediator) will try to manage because that would be beautiful," he said.
Furthermore, Jootje said, during the mediation process, both sides must attend. Including the plaintiff, Ahok, who is currently being arrested at the Brimob Command Headquarters of Kelapa Dua, Depok. "Plaintiff must attend because there are legal consequences," he said.
