Sea Games Upside-down Flag: Indonesia Sends Diplomatic Note

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In response to the upside down Indonesian flag printed on SEA Games booklet, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi stated that she has communicated with Malaysia Foreign Affairs Minister.
Retno said that Indonesian government through Foreign Affairs Ministry have filed a complaint to Malaysian government.

"Yes, we have contacted Malaysia Foreign Affairs Minister and we will send a diplomatic note," Retno said on Sunday (20/8).
Retno also regretted the flag error incident since Malaysia is the closest neighboring country to Indonesia.
Regarding the cause Retno claimed that the government is still trying to find out. "I am currently in contact with people in the field to find out the cause of the incident," Retno added.

The incident of printed upside-down Indonesian flag occurred during 2017 SEA Games opening ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The inverted flag was printed in a booklet distributed to state officials during the opening of the event in Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
