Malaysia Apologizes for Indonesian Flag Upside Down Incident

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Malaysia Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar will meet Indonesia youth and Sports Minister (Menpora) Imam Nahrawi to convey an apology relating to upside-down Indonesian flag printed on 2017 SEA Games guide book.
The plan of the meeting on Sunday (20/8) was relayed by Malaysia Organizing Committee (MASOC), along with an official statement of apology from the committee.
"We would like to apology to all the people of Indonesia for our mistake which was unintentional in printing Indonesian flag in the book," MASOC stated on Saturday (19/8).
In addition to statement of apology, MASOC also stated, “We trust the strong bond between the two countries will (be) further strengthened in the spirit of the SEA Games.”
Menpora Imam Nahrawi voiced his protests in his twitter account. As a response, on Saturday(19/8) Khairy Jamaluddin tweeted, "Bapak Imam, Please accept my sincere apologies for this. Truthfully, no malice was intended. I regret this mistake. I seek your forgiveness."
