Longer Sleep on Weekend Brings Better Intelligence, Weight Loss

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Longer sleep during the weekend can actually make us smarter and slimmer. People generally rest at home or hang out on the weekend to refresh their mind and body.
Quoted from Metro, a study revealed that a habit of sleeping longer during the weekend presents a lot of health benefits. The study published in a journal entitled Sleep observed 2.156 adults’ sleeping habits and their Body Mass Index (BMI).
The results revealed that those who did not get enough sleep on the weekdays but sleep longer on the weekend will have lower BMI. The extra sleeping time on the weekend provides protective effects to the body.
"Sleeping longer on the weekend presents biological protective effects in terms of preventing obesity," the researcher said.
The study also revealed that it elevates our intelligence. During sleep, the brain produces previously forgotten information so that recalling information is easier to do.
Therefore, when we are exhausted in the weekdays, we would better use the weekend to sleep more to freshen up our brain.
