TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) announced that the black box of the Basarnas helicopter that crashed in Temanggung was sent to France for further inspection.
“It’s being taken to France and will need around one to two weeks to inspect (the black box data),” Basarnas Chief Marshal Muhammad Syaugi said Wednesday, July 5.
Syaugi explained that Basarnas is only able to extract the data from the black box. A detailed investigation regarding the black box data recordings could only be conducted by the company that produced the chopper.

Meanwhile, Basarnas, along with the Indonesian Armed Forces, Navy, and the National Transportation Safety Committee, continues to investigate the crash site.
Eyewitness testimony revealed that at the time of the accident, the location was showered with intense rain and covered with fog. “We are not sure on what happened inside the aircraft,” said Syaugi.
Basarnas’ Dauphin helicopter crash landed in the Butak Mountains located in Temanggung District in Central Java.
The helicopter was on its way to Banjarnegara where they planned to assist the evacuation process following the Dieng eruption.
The eight victims were the pilot and passengers of the chopper; they were Basarnas members (4 people) and TNI HR 3602 crew members (4 people).
