Indonesia U 16 Triumphant at Tien Phong Plastic Cup

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia U 16 team come up the winner at Tien Phong Plastic Cup 2017 in Vietnam. It was confirmed after Indonesia defeated Taiwan 11-0 in their last match yesterday and the match between Vietnam and Myanmar ended with a goalless draw.

The results put the team coached by Fakhri Husaini atop of the table with 7 points, 2 points above host Vietnam.

Aside from being the champions, Indonesia became the most productive team with 16 goals scored and two goals conceded in three matches. Striker Rendy Juliansyah is the tournament’s top scorer with 7 goals.

In the match against Taiwan, Rendy Juliansyah netted six goals (26', 37', 44', 56', 57', 78'). The rest were scored by Hamsah Lestaluhu (10, 55’), Amirudin Bagus (70’, 86’) and Brylian Aldama (87’).

The title gives a major boost to the U-16 team who will compete at the AFF U-15 Championship on July 9-22. Indonesia will join Australia, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and Singapore in Group A.

After the AFF Cup, Indonesia will play in AFC U-16 Championship qualifiers on September 16-24 against Laos, Timor-Leste, Northern Mariana Islands and host Thailand in Group G.
