TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Ministry said that the Soekarno - Hatta Airport Train will miss its initial launch target of July this year. The ministry's Director General of Train Prasetyo Boeditjahjono said he could not confirm when the airport train will operate.
”I cannot specify the month, it should be in 2017,” Prasetyo said in Jakarta yesterday, June 8.
Prasetyo said that he had yet to find out the latest development of the airport train.

According to Prasetyo, land dispute around Manggarai Train Station did not cause the delayed launch. “It’s normal, a process. It has nothing to do with it.”
State-owned railway company KAI President Director Edi Sukmoro said that the airport train may operate in September. According to him, the company had earlier await the resolution to the problem faced in Manggarai Station. “It’s earlier been predicted that it’s impossible [to launch] in July since the trains only arrive in July.”
Edi Sukmoro could not confirm the percentage of completion of the project. He reasoned that a factory in Manggarai area requested more time despite having agreed to be evicted. “Hopefully, [it will be settled] as soon as possible.”
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi had said that Soekarno-Hatta Airport train may operate in July. He made the statement during a site inspection for the project in March.
