The special committee on the KPK inquiry comprises of seven factions in the House of Representatives: the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Golkar Party, Nasdem Party, the United Development Party (PPP), Hanura Party, Gerindra Party and the National Mandate Party (PAN).
Meanwhile, the factions of Democrat Party, the Prosperous Justice Party and the National Awakening Party oppose the right of inquiry.
The special committee was formed following calls from the House’s Legal Commission on KPK to disclose the recordings of witness questioning process in the electronic identity card or e-KTP graft case. The KPK alleged that witness Miryam was being intimidated by the legal commission.
Dossy Iskandar, deputy chairman of the special committee on the KPK inquiry, said that the committee will not only inquire about the recording. “The recording is a small part of what will be [discussed] in the inquiry,” he said.
