TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo, also known as Jokowi, believed that the best and most trusted candidate will win the Jakarta gubernatorial election.
"I believe that the pesta demokrasi [democracy party] of Jakarta gubernatorial election will run smoothly and produce the best, trusted Jakarta leader," Jokowi said on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, shortly after casting his vote at a polling station in Gambir, Central Jakarta.
Jokowi was wearing a white shirt and was accompanied by the First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo who wore a pink traditional kebaya.
President Jokowi has also called for unity amid the heated Jakarta election.
"Don't let political differences divide us because we are all brothers and sisters," Jokowi said.
Jokowi expressed that anyone should accept the election results whoever comes up on top.
The president arrived at polling station IV in Gambir at 10:43 AM local time and left around 10 minutes later.
