TEMPO.CO, Kupang-The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province said that NTT is the third poorest region in Indonesia with 1.149 million or 22.19 percent of its poor population until March 2016.
“NTT is still the third poorest region on a national scale,” Head of BPS NTT Maritje Pattiwalapia said Tuesday, July 19, 2016.
The number of poor people have decreased about 10,610 people compared to that of September 2015 with 1.160 million people or 22.58 percent from the total of 5.3 million population.
According to data from the BPS, throughout period of September 2015-March 2016, the number of poor population in villages down by 25,000 people from 1.063 million to 1.037 million people. Meanwhile, poor population in urban areas rose by 14,000 from 97,000 to 112,000 people.
