TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bandung, the capital of West Java, offers a variety of coffee that aficionados can try in the city's bountiful cafes. The residents of Bandung and out-of-towners visiting the city can easily hop from one coffee shop to another to enjoy their favorite brew.
Seeking to tap the coffee-lover market, Seventh Dose cafe offers unique-tasting coffee with different ways to drink them. Met on the venue at Jalan Diponegoro, owner Erwin Yonathan gave a brief introduction to his shop's variety of coffee taste.
"I wanted to have a coffee shop with a unique concept that distinguishes it from other establishments," Erwin said on Thursday, February 25, 2016.
Some of Seventh Dose's out-of the-ordinary coffee menu are the Seventh Dose Green Tea, Seventh Dose Coffee, Seventh Dose Red Velvet, and Iced Coffee Soda. These drinks are sold for around Rp30,000 a glass.
"Apparently people love the taste of coffee mixed with other flavors," Erwin said.
The drinks are also served in a unique way.
Black Robusta coffee without sugar is frozen and in ice-cube molds. The iced coffee blocks are then placed inside a small pot-shaped glass, served with a glass of cream with flavors of the customers' choice; green tea, red velvet, or milk.
The customers can pour their desired amount of cream onto the coffee blocks. For those with a sweet tooth, they can always ask for sugar.
"We serve [the coffee and the cream] in separate glasses so that [customers] can mix their own drink," Erwin said.
Seventh Dose only serves brews prepared from roasted local coffee beans. "The coffees we use are local. Why bother buying imports when our own coffee is better?" said Erwin, who is also a barista at Seventh Dose.
Not just coffee, Seventh Dose also offers meals and side dishes like Baked Alaska Cake, Mexican Meatball Salad, and an Indonesian favorite; sate, for affordable prices.
