TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said the City Hall received a bomb threat on Saturday. Ahok explained the bomb threat was targeting presidential candidate-cum-inactive governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
Jokowi is scheduled to return to his post as Jakarta governor on Tuesday afternoon following the announcement of the presidential election results by the General Elections Commission (KPU). “It aimed at Jokowi because he would return to the City Hall,” Ahok said.
Ahok added the threat was sent via fax, saying Jokowi, as a Javanese, should not return and be in charge of Jakarta.
“Be careful when you [Jokowi] return [to the City Hall]. We can bomb the City Hall,” Ahok said, quoting the threat.
Ahok said he immediately called the police and asked them to comb the City Hall and set up metal detectors at the building on receiving the threat.
