Labora Sitorus Remains at Large Despite Being Declared as Suspect

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Police Headquarter has appointed First Inspector Labora Sitorus, alleged owner of trillions of rupiahs account, as a suspect since yesterday. However, Brigadier General Arief Sulistyo, Special Economic Director of the Indonesian Police Criminal Investigation Agency, said that their office will not arrest the suspect yet because the investigation is yet to be concluded.
"The investigation is ongoing," said Sulistyo when Tempo contacted him on Friday, May 17.
He stated that the Papua Regional Police can determine whether to put Sitorus into custody or not only after the investigations are finished. Sulistyo also stated that he is confident that Sitorus will not make any attempts to escape. "He is a member of the force, it is impossible for him to escape."
Similar to Sulistyo, the Commissioner of National Police Commission, Edi Saputra Hasibuan, said that it is impossible for Sitorus to escape.
