TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the ministry would issue two recommendations in light of traffic congestion in Jakarta-Cikampek toll road. Budi conveyed the statement after meeting with the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) on Tuesday, November 27.
The first recommendation, the construction of Jakarta-Bandung fast train and Jakarta-Cikampek LRT would be built by one contractor. However, he had yet explained which contractor would be assigned for the two projects.
“We will assign one contractor [for both projects], thus the heavy equipment will not line in Cikunir intersection,” said Minister Budi in Fairmont Hotel on Wednesday, November 28.

The second recommendation was implementing the odd-even policy in Tambun area, Bekasi. Currently, Jakarta-Bandung could be reached within ten hours.
“We want the travel time to be 3 to 4 hours as it used to. So, we will impose odd-even policy in Tambun,” he noted. The traffic regulation would commence at 5-10 a.m local time.
Budi explained the Transportation Ministry would provide 50 buses to accommodate the public during the application of odd-even policy. The bus could board around 50 passengers.
The minister ensured the construction of light rapid transit or LRT Jabodetabek in Jakarta-Cikampek phase and Jakarta-Bandung fast train could be run as planned. According to Minister Budi, the LRT project would be completed at the end of 2019.
