TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eid Al-Fitr period is not only identical to congested traffic during homecoming period, bad communication frequency traffic also often occurred. However, the government claimed that until now, communication traffic has not experienced any trouble.
"Telecommunication operators have installed Base Transceiver Station (BTS) in all homecoming routes," said Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara on Friday, June 15, 2018.
Rudiantara said that telecommunication operators have studied customers' behavior and applied BTS installation strategy in accordance with the flow of customers.
"Previously, BTS was installed in the northern coast route, but user traffic along the northern coastline is greatly reduced because most users now can take toll roads, Rudiantara said.
Fortunately, telecommunication operators have managed to anticipate such changes and have taken steps to strengthen BTS along new toll roads and functional toll roads.
In accordance with homecoming trends, communication traffic in Jakarta is currently reduced. "It will later increase because people will be sending Eid Al-Fitr greetings from their hometown," Rudiantara added.
Executive Vice President of Telkomsel for Jabodetabek and West Java Ririn Widaryani, said that Telkomsel has anticipated the increase of telecommunication traffic on several homecoming routes by strengthening its network frequency. Moreover, Telkomsel had even installed as many as 116 BTS on functional toll roads, such as the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road.
"We did this so that homecomers taking this route can communicate easily," Ririn said.
