Alexis Hotel Closed Down, Nightclub Association Plans to Sue

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the discontinuation of Alexis Hotel business permit by Jakarta administration, the association of Jakarta’s Entertainment Business Association demanded government officials to provide proof of the prostitution allegations.
Members of the association are also set to file a lawsuit against the Jakarta administration if they are unable to present hard evidence of prostitution activities.
“We will see. If the Governor continues to stay arrogant, then we will file a lawsuit,” said the association’s chairman Erick Halauwet on Wednesday, November 1. He also argues that the government's action was too hasty, considering that there were no previous warnings.

The One-Stop Integrated Service Agency rejected the business permit filed by Alexis Hotel and its massage therapy clinic. Jakarta Officials argue that Alexis Hotel had violated the Governor Regulation No 133/2012 on Tourism.
Refusing to stop there, city administrators also plan to evaluate the business permit of each and every nightlife entertainment locations in Jakarta.
Erick compared Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok. Erick reasons that under Ahok’s leadership, City Officials always issues a first and second warning letter before closing down a business. “Alexis Hotel never received an official warning or sanction from the government,” said Erick.
Governor Anies Baswedan previously stated that Jakarta Officials has enough evidence to close down Alexis Hotel. He has also requested police records to further strengthen his stand against Alexis Hotel.
