TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The management of Hotel Alexis claims that they annually deposit Rp30 billion to Jakarta Officials. That will stop following the discontinuation of their business permit.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that he is not worried that Jakarta will lose a source of income tax. “We want income from businesses that are Halal. Prostitution is not,” said Anies Baswedan on Tuesday, October 31.
Hotel Alexis and its massage therapy clinic has officially stopped its operations after its business permit ended on October 30. Jakarta’s investment agency chose not to extend its permit over prostitution suspicions.

Anies Baswedan explains that he is mandated to run the existing regulations and laws, which is why he is committed to preserving the mandate the best he can. One of it is to ban practices that disrupt public order. “This is not about Alexis, it is about violations. Anyone who conducts violations here will be dealt with,” said Anies Baswedan.
The Jakarta Governor stated that the city’s provincial government has the authority to issue and reject a business permit. Even though Alexis management proposed to hold a discussion, Anies asserted that he will not grant Alexis any permit. “We will be assertive here, [we] have enough evidence,” said the Jakarta Governor.
