Indonesia U-19 Goalkeeper Injury Update after Vietnam Clash

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The national team doctor has provided an update on the injury of Indonesia U-19 goalkeeper Muhammad Riyandi after Vietnam clash on Monday. An examination shows that he has suffered a severe injury.
Indonesia U-19 team doctor Ifran said that an MRI examination indicates that Riyandi has suffered a complete anterior cruciate ligament tear and a meniscus tear.
“Riyandi suffer the injuries because he fell awkwardly during Indonesia vs Vietnam clash. We expect that the phase of Riyandi’s recovery will take six months,” he said on the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) website.

Ifran explained that the 17-year-old goalkeeper’s mental state is stable.
“He was sad but he’s back to normal now. We have motivated, encouraged and cheered him for a quick recovery. His mental state is currently stable,” the doctor said.
Riyandi will remain with the U-19 squad and undergo therapy and recovery process at the team hotel.
As such, Indonesia U-19 goalkeeper position will be filled by Muchammad Aqil Savik in the match against Brunei this afternoon.
