TEMPO.CO, Banda Aceh - A flash flood that took place in southeast Aceh on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, forced 2,821 people to seek refuge. Southeast Aceh Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) head Ramadan said that the refugees are being sheltered in two districts most severely damaged by the flash flood.
“Logistics are safe, and assistances are still flowing,” Ramadan told Tempo on Friday, April 14, 2017.
Shelters were set up at the Seumadam District Mosque, the Lawe Sigala-gala District Community Health Center, the Lawe Sigala-gala HKI Church, and at Lawe Kesumpat Village.
The Southeast Aceh BPBD also cleared landslide materials from roads using heavy equipment.
Aceh Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBA) staff revealed that the flash flood has damaged 507 houses, three religious buildings, clean water facilities, a village office, roads, and a bridge.
The flash flood is a result of heavy rain pouring down the area and killed two people.
