TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Google starts to increase security for its Gmail email services. The giant digital company introduces an encrypted system that is claimed to be able to secure users' data from perpetrators.
All Gmail emails will be encrypted with the Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) once the data has been moved from the user to the Gmail server. Radar Tech website wrote that this Gmail encrypted data with HTTPS has been around since 2010, but it was not installed by default.
"Your email is important to you, and making sure it stays safe and always available is important to us," Gmail Lead Security Engineer Nicolas Lidzborski wrote in a blog post.
Eventhough Google provides encrypted services on all emails, users can still choose not to use the safety feature.
According to a Google spokesman, the data encryption can also protect users' data from NSA espionage. He also said explained that companies have started to prioritize Gmail security since the middle of last year.
