20 August 2024 11:35 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has released its weekly weather forecast for August 20-27, 2024. The southern region of Indonesia, including Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara, is expected to remain in the dry season with predominantly sunny to cloudy skies. Rain potential remains relatively consistent in the central and eastern parts of the country.

Several factors, including the Equatorial Rossby wave phenomenon, the Madden-Julian Oscillation, and converging wind patterns, are influencing the potential for rainfall. Areas such as Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Jambi, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua are likely to experience rain.

The agency’s analysis indicates that rainfall in northern Indonesia has been substantial in recent weeks, with Nagan Raya, Aceh, recording 101 mm of rain on August 13, and Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, recording 105 mm on August 15.

Early Weather Warning for the Next Week:
