Jokowi Relocates Office to New Capital Today

12 September 2024 09:22 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi departs for East Kalimantan on Thursday, September 12, 2024, relocating his office to Nusantara Capital City (IKN). Jokowi is scheduled to meet and brief the Indonesian military and National Police officials.

The head of state and his entourage took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base at around 07:30 a.m. Jakarta Time on the Presidential Aircraft Indonesia-1. Jokowi will land on Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan.

Jokowi will then head to IKN in North Penajam Paser on an Air Force Helicopter Super Puma. “The briefing for the Indonesian military and National Polie officials will be conducted in Nusantara Room, State Palace, IKN,” the Deputy for Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Yusuf Permana, said in a written statement.

Previously, the head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, said Jokowi plans to relocate to IKN from September 10 to October 19. Based on the information, Jokowi will stay in IKN until the inauguration of Prabowo Subainto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as president and vice president of Indonesia for 2024-2029.

However, Jokowi was still seen in Jakarta on September 10 and 11, conducting several agendas. Yesterday, Jokowi inaugurated Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul as the Minister of Social Affairs, replacing Tri Rismaharini, at State Palace.

Jokowi himself said he will keep visiting several regions in the tail-end of his term. The former Jakarta Governor said he will still carry on with stately during his stay at IKN.

“Meeting with ministers, receiving visits as usual, and groundbreaking for several investors,” Jokowi said on Tuesday, September 10.
