TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated that the President-elect for the 2024-2029 period, Prabowo Subianto, plans to announce his cabinet lineup on Monday, October 21, 2024. This announcement will occur one day after his inauguration with Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Luhut revealed that he learned this information from Prabowo during a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo or Jokowi at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, August 5, 2024.
“Yesterday he said, 'Bang (Brother), I will be inaugurated on October 20, and I'll announce and inaugurate the cabinet on October 21. The cabinet meeting will be on October 23,'” Luhut recounted, imitating Prabowo's words at a book launch event at Wisma Elang Laut in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, as quoted by Antara.
The senior minister expressed optimism about Prabowo's swift implementation of work programs, including addressing issues related to the palm oil plantation database and audits.
“Our country is incredibly rich, and I'm pleased that the elected presidential candidate recognizes this and is eager to tackle problems quickly,” Luhut said.
Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, chairman of the executive board of Gerindra Party, said that Prabowo, the party’s patron chief, could have indeed shared this information with Luhut. “Yes, if Pak Luhut says so, they do communicate frequently,” Dasco stated via voice message on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
Dasco did not question the veracity of Luhut's statement. “So, the information may have been shared during a conversation between Pak Luhut and Pak Prabowo,” said the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
