Jokowi Reminds Prabowo of Economic Risks in 2025 Budget Meeting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi convened a limited cabinet meeting today, August 5, to discuss the government's work plan, financial notes, and the 2025 State Budget. Held at the Presidential Office in Jakarta, the meeting was attended by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto who sat on the president’s right side, and State Secretary Pratikno on the left side.
The president highlighted the potential risks of a global economic slowdown which could trigger a food crisis and fuel price increases.
“The most important thing is [we must] be aware of the risk of a global economic slowdown, both related to interest rate policies and geopolitical tensions, which could potentially lead to a food crisis, rising oil prices,” Jokowi said on Monday, August 5.
When opening the meeting, the Head of State mentioned the 2025 Draft State Budget should accommodate all programs initiated by the incoming government led by President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka. He also emphasized the need to optimize state revenue generation.
State officials attending the meeting include Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani.
