TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the West Kalimantan Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Muhammad Tito Andrianto, said the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) obligor and Texmaco boss, Marimutu Sinivasan, allegedly tried to exit Indonesia for medical treatment. “He reasoned with medical treatment,” Tito told Tempo on Monday, September 9. 2024.
According to Tito, Marimutu crossed the Entikong Immigration Checkpoint in the Cross Border Post heading to Sarawak, Malaysia, without exiting his vehicle and just handed over his passport to an officer. “He seemed to be accompanied by a driver and his family,” Tito said.
Admittedly, Tito was bewildered as the 87-year-old Marimutu was unwell but able to endure a 6-7 hour car ride from Pontianak to Entikong. “He’s physically strong for that age and an unhealthy condition,” he said.

While his passport was examined, officers found that Marimutu was included in the prevention list of people prohibited from leaving Indonesia. The Directorate General of Immigration issued the prevention letter at the request of the Indonesian Minister of Finance for owing the state.
"At that time I received a report from the Head of Entikong Immigration and I ordered them to run the procedure,” said Tito, who once served as Head of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Immigration.
The officers at that time, said Tito, confiscated Marimutu's passport and thwarted his plans to leave Indonesian territory.
Immigration officers from the Class II Entikong Immigration Office thwarted the Texmaco Boss’ plan to travel overseas via the Entikong Cross Border Post on Sunday evening, September 8, 2024.
“Our officers prevented an Indonesian citizen, MS alias S, from leaving the Indonesian territory,” the Head of Entikong Immigration Office, Henry Dermawan, said in a written statement on Monday.
Marimutu planned to leave for Sarawak, Malaysia, at around 02:00 p.m. WIB (Western Indonesia Time). Marimutu stayed inside his vehicle while crossing the Entikong Immigration Checkpoint.
“For health reasons, MS stayed in the vehicle used to leave Indonesian territory and handed his passport to officers for Immigration inspection,” Hendry said.
Furthermore, Entikong Immigration coordinated with the Head of the Immigration Division, Arief Munandar, and Muhammad Tito Andrianto to withdraw all of Marimutu Sinivasan's travel documents.
Hendry added that the prevention and withdrawal of passports of the BLBI obligor carried out by Immigration officers is mandated by Article 91 paragraph (2), Article 31 paragraph (3) of Immigration Law Number 6 of 2011, and Article 231 of Government Regulation Number 31 of 2013 concerning Implementing Regulations of Immigration Law.
