TEMPO.CO, JakartaKylian Mbappe received a rousing welcome at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. More than 80,000 fans applauded him as he was introduced as a new Madrid player.

A video featuring Real Madrid's 15 Champions League trophies and a moment from Mbappe was shown during the introduction ceremony.  Real Madrid's president, Florentino Perez, was joined by members of the board of directors; Real Madrid's Honorary President, José Martínez Pirri; Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño; and club legends such as Santamaría, Zidane, Raúl, Solari and Arbeloa.

Florentino said that the fanfare of the introduction ceremony was to welcome Mbappe. He believes the 25-year-old will help Real Madrid on the winning path of European football.

“First of all, I want to congratulate the Spanish national football team for winning the fourth European Cup in their history. My congratulations are not only for winning this incredible trophy but also for the way they achieved it,” Florentino said.

“Dear Madridistas, we are all back to normal and can introduce the new Real Madrid players at our stadium. Here, in this magnificent temple of world football, much of the story has been written. The Bernabéu has seen the best players arrive and is now ready for what will be a turning point in Real Madrid's history. This stadium will continue to boast the best players in the world.”

“The time has come to welcome a player who is coming to help us keep winning. A player who today realized his life's dream. Today we welcome Kylian Mbappe. Kylian, thank you for making the effort that many people can't. Welcome to your new home, welcome to Real Madrid,” said Florentino.

He thanked Mbappe for his passion and love for Real Madrid. Florentino is well aware that the former Paris Saint-Germain player has loved Los Blancos since childhood.  “You were in this stadium when you were only 13 years old, and even then we saw how your eyes shone with emotion when watching idols,” he said.

“I know you'll never forget that day in December 2012, when Zinedine Zidane invited you to visit Ciudad Real Madrid and meet the players you admired so much. You've realized a dream because you never gave up. You are here today because you wanted it and only your desire was able to overcome all difficulties,” Florentino said again.

He hopes that Kylian Mbappe's presence will be an example for the children who are also present at the Santiago Bernabeu. “They are here thanks to a charitable foundation that embraces them with affection and encourages them to pursue their dreams.”

“You, the best soccer players, are the greatest role models for all the children who witnessed this exciting moment today from all corners of the world. These children will never forget the day when Kylian Mbappé finally realized his dream here at Real Madrid. Welcome to your home, welcome to the Santiago Bernabéu and congratulations on achieving your dream,” Florentino Perez told Mbappe.
