7 Tips for a Speedy Airport Security Check

5 July 2024 10:20 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaAirport security is essential for safe travel, but long lines and delays can be frustrating. Packing light helps to breeze through security checks. Unpacking a mountain of luggage can be a hassle, so it is better to prioritize essentials only.

Here are seven tips to streamline the airport security process:

1. Pack Smart

Before you leave, double-check your luggage for prohibited items like sharp objects or liquids exceeding allowed limits. Regulations may vary by country, so it is highly suggested to research your destination's specific guidelines.

2. Separate metal items

Keep metal items like belts and keys in a designated compartment in your carry-on bag. This will save time at security checkpoints if the scanner detects metal.

3. Have Documents Ready

Prepare your boarding pass, identification such as a passport or ID Card, and any necessary travel documents like a visa and vaccination certificate in a designated folder or wallet. This will help you avoid delays while searching for them.

4. Pack Light

Avoid overpacking for a smoother security check. Not only will you avoid excess baggage fees, but you will also be able to navigate the airport screening process more efficiently.

5. Dress for Comfort

Choose comfortable clothing that is easy to remove and put back on. This will streamline the security process where you might be asked to take off jackets, belts, and shoes.

6. Know What's Allowed

Familiarize yourself with the list of prohibited items. Be aware that some seemingly harmless things, like toy guns, might be banned in certain countries, such as Singapore.

7. Follow the rules

Be cooperative and follow the instructions of security personnel. If you are not using a Pre-check lane, separate your laptop and place it in a separate bin for scanning. If you have liquids in your carry-on bag, ensure they comply with size and quantity limitations. Pack them in a clear, resealable plastic bag and discard any exceeding the allowed amount before reaching security. Bottles of liquids will require additional screening, potentially causing delays.

By following these tips, you can breeze through airport security and ensure a smooth and stress-free travel experience.
