TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kaesang Pangarep, the youngest son of President Joko Jokowi Widodo, said that would prefer to run with former governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan if he is nominated in the 2024 Jakarta election.
“Considering the supervision, it's the most realistic with Pak Anies,” he said at the Al Huda Mosque in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, on Friday, June 14.
Aside from Anies, Kaesang does not rule out the possibility of being paired with Ridwal Kamil, also known as RK. According to him, the former governor of West Java has made quite good progress in his region.
Kaesang considered both of them to be good and great personalities. The Advanced Indonesia Coalition has previously confirmed that RK is one of the options to be nominated in the upcoming regional election, not Anies. However, Kaesang emphasized that it doesn't matter who he is paired with as he will continue to communicate with everyone.
The way for Kaesang to run in the Jakarta gubernatorial election is wide open after the Supreme Court granted a lawsuit regarding the age requirement for candidacy. The court’s ruling allows candidates to be at least 30 years old upon their inauguration, rather than when they make the registration.
Kaesang stressed that he will announce whether or not he will run in the Jakarta election in August.
