Jakarta Police Name South Korean Man Suspect in Death of Immigration Officer

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Jaya Police detained a South Korean national, KH, for allegedly being involved in the death of a 23-year-old immigration officer named Tri Fattah Firdaus. The police have also named the foreigner a suspect who would be charged under the Criminal Code article on threats.
“We have named him a suspect in the first case of threats, and we are currently detaining him,” Head of the Jakarta Metro Jaya Police’s Crime and Violence Sub-Directorate, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Samian, at the Police HQ on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
The police also received a complaint from Fattah's family about the alleged murder in the case. The family claimed that there was something odd about the incident that Fattah died after falling from the 19th-floor apartment. However, Samian said the investigation is still ongoing.
Police could not yet confirm whether Fattah fell after being pushed or thrown out by the foreigner. “They went out together and returned to the apartment at around 2 a.m.,” said Samian.
KH was arrested at the Metro Garden Apartment in Tangerang City, where Fattah fell and died in the early hours of Friday, Oct. 27. KH resisted the police arrest with a sharp weapon and then surrendered after being persuaded by South Korean Embassy officials.
Tri Fattah was an employee at the Immigration Detention Center in Kalideres, West Jakarta. Meanwhile, KH landed in Indonesia for business in December 2022. KH was known to have been detained at the West Jakarta Immigration for three years over permits and was then deported.
