TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has moved up to eighth position in the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Para Games medal tally. Indonesia climbed up two spots from 10th place after winning three gold medals on Wednesday, October 25.
Today's three gold medals came from the para-athletics sport through Saptoyogo Purnomo in the T37 400-meter dash, his second gold in this year's Asian Para Games.
In blind judo, Roma Siska Tampubolon won gold in the over-70-kg event in the J1 classification. Siska, who was not a favorite in the sport, performed well against four judokas from other countries, winning all four matches.
Another golden surprise came from lawn bowls. Kacung Setiawan, who competed in the men's singles B2, beat Malaysia's Muhamad Ayub. Kacung was initially only targeted to win bronze.
Today the Indonesian contingent also added four silvers and five bronzes from table tennis, lawn bowls, bicycle racing, athletics, and archery.
At the 2023 Asian Para Games, Indonesia's 130-strong contingent is targeted to bring home 19 gold, 23 silver, and 23 bronze medals, and is expected to finish in the top 10 in the final standings.
