TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Roma Siska Tampubolon won Indonesia's first gold medal in blind judo number 70 kg J1 at the Asian Para Games 2022 after facing four competitors on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the Xiaoshan Linpu Gymnasium in China.

In total, the athlete managed to round 40 points which granted her the gold medal, while the silver medal went to Uzbekistan's Refuza Ergashva with 30 points. The bronze medal went to Chinese athlete Yan Men with 20 points.

"I am grateful and thankful to contribute a gold medal for Indonesia," Siska said as quoted from the official statement of the Indonesian Paralympic Committee. "I am thankful for the coach and the committee's support. Hopefully, I could compete at Paralympics in the future."

On the other hand, coach Lee Yong Il was very optimistic about Siska's chance in the Asian Para Games 2022, to begin with.

"She's surprising, ever since stepping foot in Hangzhou until the competition day she's always happy, making her performance at the match extraordinary. She swept all her matches under 20 seconds," the coach added.

With the addition of one gold medal today, Indonesia ranked eighth for now with 6 gold, 8 silver, and 11 bronze. The Indonesian contingent to the Asian Para Games 2022 is targeted to finish top 10 with 19 gold, 23 silver, and 25 bronze.
