BMKG Update: Earthquakes Hit Maluku and Yogyakarta on Sunday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Sunday recorded a number of earthquakes with one of the most prominent being the 5.1 magnitude earthquake that hit the Eastern part of Seram in Maluku. This one struck at 21:41 local time.
The agency reported that the quake’s epicenter was detected at 128 kilometers northwest of Tual, Maluku, from a depth of 68 kilometers and was mainly caused by subduction activities from the Banda Sea, BMKG earthquake and tsunami division head Daryono stated on Sunday.
This earthquake was felt up to Teor, Wakate, and Eastern Seram regions. So far, the agency said there had been no reports of damages caused by the quake.
Three hours later, another earthquake was detected hitting the region of Bantul in Yogyakarta at 22:11 Western Indonesia Times (WIB), measured at magnitude 1.6 which had an epicenter 19 kilometers Southwest of Bantul.
