TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - According to the Indonesian Automotive Industries Association (Gaikindo), the volume of retail car sales in February 2023 reached 83,973 units. This is a 7.6 percent decline from January's 90,872 units.
The monthly wholesale volume was also down by 7.6 percent to 86,954 units.
In the production sector, the decline was 6.7 percent — from 132,770 units in January to 123,894 units in February.
An increase was recorded for exports of Completely Build Up (CBU) cars throughout February with a volume of 45,435 units or an increase of 2.4 percent compared to exports in January which reached 44,355 units.
Meanwhile, imports in February soared 33.4 percent to 9,640 units.
In total, retail sales from January to February 2023 reached 181,077 units, up by 9.6 percent from the same period last year. As for wholesales, the total for January-February was 174,845 units, a 17.7 percent increase.
