TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will make available train tickets for this year’s Ramadan homecoming season on February 26. According to a representative of KAI’s Yogyakarta operational region Franoto Wibowo, long-distance trip tickets are made available 45 days before the mass exodus starts.
Franoto said ticket sales will open earlier than last year, which was opened 30 days before the annual tradition. The change, he said, is introduced to give more leeway to travelers.
“As of February 26, customers are able to purchase tickets for departures on April 12,” said Franoto on February 16.
Customers are able to book tickets online through the KAI Access application, the kai.id website, and other online official channels that sell KAI-operated train tickets.
“Please plan your trip as best as you could, which includes estimating your travel to the train station. Don’t get it wrong which will get you to miss this year’s Ramadan homecoming,” he said.
Kereta Api Indonesia has started preparations ahead of the most congested annual event where most of the Indonesian population travels back to their hometowns during the peak of Ramadan celebration.
