TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) director Edi Sukmoro said PT KAI would provide tickets for 40 additional trips ahead of the 2018 Eid homecoming exodus. The tickets will be available for purchase starting April 16 at 00:01 a.m.
“As many as 23,752 seats a day will be available simultaneously beginning in the early hours of April 16,” Edi told a press conference in Gambir Station, Central Jakarta, April 13.
Edi said 20 trains operating on varied dates would serve the 40 additional trips—most would commence operation from June 8-25. However, he added, some of the trains viz. Kertajaya Lebaran, Brantas Lebaran and Mataram Premium would start operating as early as June 5-26.
The list of additional trains are as follows:

8. Sembrani Lebaran (Gambir-Surabaya Pasarturi)

10. Lodaya Lebaran (Bandung-Solo)
11. Sancaka Lebaran (Yogyakarta-Surabaya Gudeg)

Edi said the total tickets sold until April 13 for mid and long-haul trip regular trains amounted to 2,257.904 seats or 42.91 percent. He explained would-be passengers could book train tickets via KAI Access, KAI’s official website, minimarkets, payment point online bank system (PPOB), and other websites and mobile applications in corporation with KAI.
“So, there are 50 percent available tickets remaining, [there are] still a lot [of tickets]," Edi said.
PT KAI will operate a total of 393 trains for the year’s Eid homecoming exodus. The company has also ordered 10 additional trains from state-owned train manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api [PT INKA].
PT KAI also plans to kick off Eid homecoming operations dubbed “Operasi Lebaran” from June 5 until 26, 2018, or ten days prior to Eid day. In addition, PT KAI will also serve fast-breaking meals and pre-dawn meals for its passengers.
