TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - International airline Qatar Airways and Emirates, according to the president director of state-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura I Faik Fahmi, plans to offer flight routes destined for Bali ahead of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays
Fahmi added that the Emirates has even planned to operate its gigantic aircraft fleet, the A380, regularly in Bali, Bisnis.com reported.
Previously, Emirates had operated flights to Bali twice per day with a smaller type of aircraft and deemed that the passenger capacity would need to be increased to meet the demands, which is why talks about operating the A380 emerged.
According to Fahmi, the plan to operate the A380 is in the final discussion stage and Emirates has come to carry out direct checks and reviews to make technical adjustments. If the plan materializes, the aircraft will be the first largest to operate regularly in Indonesia.
“There might be a possibility that the A380 is used during Christmas, but the decision has not been finalized though they have expressed their interest to enter with that plane,” he added on Sunday, December 4.
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways also announced to launch of additional flights connecting Doha and Denpasar. Flight schedules are originally served once a day to twice a day. The plan will start on December 6. With the addition of this network frequency, Qatar Airways will operate a total of 35 weekly flights to Indonesia.
Qatar Airways Indonesia Country Manager, Luciana Siwu, said that the airline remains committed to serving the Indonesian market and is ready to support the revival of the tourism industry in Indonesia. She argued that apart from its worldwide popularity as a tourist destination, Bali is also the gateway for international tourism in Indonesia and one of the favorite destinations in its flight network, such as those from Europe, America, the Middle East, and Africa.
