TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta’s spatial regulations oversee the use of spaces in Thousand Island or Kepulauan Seribu, which is mentioned under the Governor’s Regulation No.31/2022 on Jakarta’s Spatial Planning Details.
The regulation’s Article 163 mentioned the use of Thousand Island’s zones consisting of land and coastal areas. Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan deemed that the utilization of coastal waters space at least meets the provisions of 14 points.
"Island development can be carried out by expanding the island's land on dead coral or sand islands in order to achieve complete infrastructure and supporting facilities," the governor's regulation states, which was signed by Anies on June 27, 2022.
The governor stipulates that the use of coastal waters consists of recreation and tourism activities, housing, and education. As well as the use of space for conservation, defense, and security, as well as research and public infrastructure.
Even so, the use of space in the Thousand Islands needs to be done by maintaining, repairing, and restoring the island and the shallow sea that surrounds it. "As well as repairing coastal beaches, natural vegetation, and coral houses," reads the Governor's Regulation.
