Kominfo Minister Meets with Malaysian Counterpart to Discuss Digital Issues

Communications and Informatics or Kominfo Minister Johnny G. Plate held a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Tan Sri Annuar Musa. He said they discussed all bilateral projects in the digital field.
“Starting from digital infrastructure, digital upstream infrastructure, digital downstream infrastructure, and digital space management,” explained Johnny during a press conference at the Kominfo Building on Friday, August 19, 2022.
According to him, he and the Malaysian minister shared the same understanding to keep digital spaces safe so they are clean and beneficial for the people both in Indonesia and Malaysia.
The NasDem Party Secretary-General also mentioned various challenges to be resolved together, viz. choosing the right technology to be adopted, satellite technology, telecommunications, “up to technology related to cyber security and others to keep the digital space clean.”
The two also talked about ways to support each other with other ASEAN countries related to important positions in international institutions such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), because this is related to the regulations and rights of ASEAN countries to universal telecommunications policies and governance.
“For example, issues related to the orbital slots that we need and other policies on the development of digital transformation in Indonesia and ASEAN, as well as in the world,” said Johnny.
Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, meanwhile, said his meeting with the Indonesian Kominfo Minister Johnny was the third time in six months. He said they discussed various matters, especially in the telecommunications sector.
“We can share very useful experiences together and many problems to be solved together as well as the same goal,” he said.
