Jokowi Visits Kyiv; Indonesia, Ukraine to Discuss Bilateral Partnership

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi was scheduled to meet with her Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba during President Joko Widodo or Jokowi’s visit to Kyiv at the end of this month.
A spokesperson for the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry Teuku Faizasyah confirmed that Retno and Kuleba will discuss bilateral cooperation at the meeting. “The date cannot be announced for security purposes,” he told Tempo via text message, Monday, June 27, 2022.
During a visit to Europe in the next few days, President Jokowi will attend the G7 Summit on June 26-28. As reported by Russian news agency TASS, the Indonesian President go to Moscow to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 30, 2022.
Minister Retno had also confirmed during a press conference at the Foreign Affairs Ministry last Wednesday that Jokowi will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv. Retno explained the visit showed concern for humanitarian issues. The state head also attempted to give a contribution to solving food issues.
When asked about the topic that Retno and Kuleba will discuss, Faizasyah refused to provide detailed information yet revealed one of the issues would be the visa-free policy.
