TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Law and Human Rights Ministry directorate general of immigration on Wednesday announced that Indonesia has effectively reintroduced visa free visits for tourists from ASEAN members. Amran Aris, Director of Immigration Traffic wrote in a statement that it “Will be available from April 6.”
The latest regulation by the ministry oversees visa free visits and visa on arrivals with the former enacted for ASEAN tourists while the latter aims to accommodate tourist visits from 43 countries. It is specifically overseen in the latest Circular (SE) by the director general of immigration No.IMI-0549.GR.01.01 issued on April 5.
In this Circular, foreign tourists are only able to enter Indonesia through 19 appointed immigration checkpoints (TPI) located in 7 airports, 8 ports, and 4 border posts.
“They are unable to enter from other immigration checkpoints to utilize these facilities. But they can pass through any immigration checkpoints when they want to exit the country,” said Amran.
The requirements for a tourist to obtain these facilities include owning an official and a minimum 6-month valid passport, having a return ticket to continue their journey to another country, visa on arrival proof of payment, and proof of insurance ownership that abides by the Covid-19 task force.
