TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In an attempt to further prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Indonesia, the Indonesian Government has officially temporarily stopped the visa free policy for Chinese citizens.
Such a move is overseen by the Law and Human Rights Minister’s Regulation No.3/2020 upon halting the visa-free policy, visa on arrival, and residence permit under urgent circumstances.
The ministry’s secretariate-general spokesman Bambang Wiyono said the policy had been made effective since February 5, 2020.
“The government has temporarily stopped the visa-free policy and on-arrival visa for Chinese citizens or those who stayed or visited China within 14-days prior to entering Indonesia,” said Bambang in a written release on Thursday, February 6.
The Law and Human Rights Minister’s Regulation on visa-free for Chinese citizens will last until February 29, 2020, and will undergo evaluation if necessary.
