Campus Dean Found Not Guilty of Sexual Harassment Charges

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Pekanbaru District Court judge on Wednesday’s court verdict found the former Riau University (UNRI) dean not guilty of sexual harassment charges he was accused of in November last year, which is overseen by 289 KUHP (criminal code).
“The defendant is found not guilty of the charges filed by the public prosecutors,” said the judge as he read the verdict.
The defendant Syafri Harto was present virtually in the court session. Meanwhile, dozens of UNRI students were present outside of the courtroom.
The judge ordered the public prosecutor’s office to immediately release Harto from prison following the verdict.
