TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said nine foreign companies would invest in the Tanah Kuning - Mangkupadi International Industrial Zone and Seaport (KIPI), Bulungan, North Kalimantan.
“Nine foreign companies will invest in the International Industrial Zone and Seaport,” said Luhut in Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan, Thursday, December 2.
He said the government would welcome any investor willing to take an active role in building the KIPI and hydropower projects.
The results of the meeting with the North Kalimantan Governor, Bulungan Regent, and the North Kalimantan Legislative Council (DPRD) speaker would be reported to President Joko Widodo.
“We were ordered by the President to monitor the preparations for the groundbreaking of Tanah-Kuning and inshallah today I will depart for Bali to meet the President in person. We hope that all the series of events on December 16 will run smoothly,” Luhut added.
According to him, the Kayan Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) Project in Peso Sub-district as energy support for the KIPI Tanah Kuning Mangkupadi mega project would also be built this year. “We are still using coal mining energy and solar panels while waiting for the construction of a hydropower project,” said Luhut.
