TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo accelerated the development of the first-phase Batang Integrated Industrial Zone in the Batang Regency. He targeted 17 committed foreign investors to start their groundbreaking in January 2021.
“Our task is to work together preparing the areas within six months,” said Ganjar in Tempo.co’s event of Ngobrol Bareng via Instagram Live on Monday, July 27.
Ganjar recalled that the Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono called him and offered support on transportation and water needs. Batang Regent would also manage the permit at the local level. “We will manage the permit on investment and the location determination,” he added.
At present, the government was intensively lobbying 17 multinational companies to relocate their production basis to Indonesia, including the United States, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan.
On June 30, 2020, President Jokowi had monitored the 4,000-hectare areas. During the visit, Ganjar went on, representatives from the 17 companies were also present.
For the early stage, Ganjar Pranowo reiterated, the development of the industrial zone would be set in 450-hectare areas. The project would not be resumed until 2024. However, the governor stopped short of detailing the investment value.
