TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Special Staffer of the State Secretary Minister, Faldo Maldini, said Formula E is not under the domain of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, but the Jakarta provincial government. This means all decisions related to the international electric car race event are in the hands of the regional administration led by Anies Baswedan.
“In response to issues that the venue, the selection of racing lanes, and other matters for Formula E will be decided by the President, we say that these things are the responsibility of the Jakarta Provincial Government and the organizing committee,” said Faldo in a statement, Thursday, November 25.
He emphasized that since the beginning, initiatives, financing scenarios, and committees for the international event are in the domain of the city administration.
Faldo confirmed that Governor Anies submitted a request for a meeting with President Jokowi and the CEO of Formula E. “But it is better for the provincial government and the organizing committee to prioritize solving all existing problems,” he said.
“The previous event of Mandalika World Superbike was not also preceded by a meeting between the CEO and the President. Once again, we emphasize that this is in the domain of the regional government and the organizers,” Faldo concluded.
To date, the management of the Jakarta Formula E, PT Jakarta Propertindo or Jakpro, has not yet determined the location for the electric car racing circuit. Formula E Organizer (FEO) and the license holders of the racing event are still reviewing a number of potential circuit locations in Jakarta.
